Why I DON’T like Twilight!

Hey hey everyone!

No, this is not a hate post…not in any way.. I see people out there saying why they hate Twilight and all of that…and I many of them doing it in a very sad and hateful way.. And since the last part of the series just premiered I thought it would be the perfect time to write this post telling you why I don’t like it!

No, it’s not because of the lack of clothing of the werewolf…it’s not because of the acting skills of any of the actors…and it’s not because Meyer decided to make vampires sparkle (although I do find that quite weird and…well…hilarious!)

It’s actually because of the story itself! And just so everyone knows, I read the books and I saw all of the movies (except for this last one)….the first one because I wanted to see what all the fuss was about and the second because…well…I like to watch movie’s made after books. It’s just a pet peeve I have…I like seeing them and see how much they really do resemble the books!

I think the movies are actually very well done, considering the special effects and such, they are very good movies… I just…I just don’t like the story!! Let me tell you why!

I think Stephanie Meyer writes very well, I actually rather enjoy her way of writing! It’s the story that bothers me… The whole thing where Bella does everything Edward wants…the whole controlling relationship…his jealousy about her hanging out with the werewolf guy disguised as worry…THAT is what bothers me. This whole series of books and movies are so big that, like it or not, everyone involved in it (specially the main actors) have become role models…and I just do not think that advocating a relationship like the one portrayed in the books and, in a somewhat lighter way in the movies, is the right thing to do.

In an era filled with violent and controlling relationships, these books are just basically telling young girls that it is ok to be controlled by their boyfriends! And that’s is really a no-no for me! Having been in a controlling and sometimes even violent relationship, changing those views is very close to my heart. The whole way how Edward controls Bella, in my opinion, is just giving teenagers the idea that that is how a perfect relationship should be…and it isn’t!!! That is solely the reason why I don’t like Twilight..

I also think all of the hater comments about Kristen Stewart’s acting are way to overblown…she is suppose to act like that…have you read the books? She is supposed to be like that, doing everything he wants and not being very…well…emotional. I don’t think she’s a bad actress…I just think maybe she just has been choosing the same type of parts for some time now…I mean, do you guys remember her in that movie with Jodie Foster? She was great! Talent doesn’t just go away like that, ya know?

This post was in no way a hater post and if you like Twilight I am happy for you!! This was my own personal opinion and I did not in any way want to hurt anyone!!

I don't like twilight is true that I haven't read the books and I have only seen the first movie, but I found the story boring…I don't really like vampires or science fiction stories and I found the love history pretty much same as always.
But I completely agree with you on the point that is not the example that we should give to teenage girls.
Pretty well written Rosie, loved the post, so proud of you baby.
    Have an amazing weekend.
    Kisses

Hater! You are stupid and disgusting and Twilight is the best love story there ever was!

I've never looked at it that way! I am a fan of the movies, but only read the first book–(I know, shame on me!) I'm just a sucker for cheesy love stories I guess. But I completely agree that she's thrown whichever way Edward wants her to be. I went through a very similar relationship (which was completely awful) and being controlled is not what is supposed to happen in a healthy relationship! When the months pass ( I think in the third movie) and she just sits by the window being miserable and crying, It does put the message out there that girls can't pick themselves up & move on without their man. Good outlook on the movie, I respect it! 🙂

I find it also insulting to women. I watch the movies yes but did not like them, they are lacking in realism and the actors, awful. I did not look at it as a love story in the true sense at all, it was all about control of a young girl. So I read the books, awful, I thought they were all about control of this girl and her every thought, decision was to made forever by this creature. Not my usual reading or movie types

I don't think I'm being a hater, I even said that this wasn't a hater post..I think you might be overreacting.. I do not agree that it is a very good love story, let alone the best, but you're entitled to your opinion!

Just try keeping it civil please =)

Exactly! I hated that movie because of that…it's like she always needed someone to make her happy and take care of her…first Edward and later Jacob…why can't a girl take care of herself? That's not the message they should be passing, I think..

    Thanks for your comment!

Specially for teens because that's the time you're discovering yourself and who you want to be…

So do I! Well…I didn't really expect the movies to be realistic, since we don't actually have vampires and werewolfs in real life, but it was indeed all about control and I REALLY disliked that!
