It’s been almost three months since Cookie’s fall, and she’s gotten so much better, it’s unbelievable!!!
Not having the surgery was absolutely the best decision I made! Especially after finding out through my Vets that Cookie got a small brain injury from the fall, it would have been a huge risk to operate on her like that! And now you cannot even see the injury on her paw anymore, it’s like it was never there.
It’s only actually visible when she’s standing and you look at her paws, the broken paw looks a bit crooked, but other than that she looks fine!
Her personality changed a lot, which is something I’m still trying to get used to…she’s not as playful as before…she sleeps a lot…is a lot detached. Sometimes it seems she forgets where she is/who is there with her and once she hears something she gets scared and tries running away…
She also has a bit of a balance problem, sometimes her back paws lose their balance, but that’s normal due to her brain injury…and she already eats alone and sometimes even comes and lies next to me. She doesn’t always respond when I call her or talk to her, but sometimes she’s just ignoring me.
I’m taking her to the vets next week and hopefully they will be able to give me some tips about how to help her to get her brain issues back in order! She still does not pee in the litter box (she stopped after the accident) and it’s a bit exhausting when she pees in the middle of the night on the floor and I gotta go and clean it up…but I love her and don’t mind it at all!
And some things never change, like her roaring!
