Self-care during pregnancy

When people tell you pregnancy changes you, they’re absolutely right! Only, not in the way that you probably are thinking – seriously, I am still waiting on my glow to make an appearance!

However, one thing that has changed during pregnancy with me is my hair. It’s true hair grows a lot faster when you have a bun in the oven – everywhere! While I will go into further details about body hair in a future post, today is all about the hair on my head, how it has changed and what I had to adapt in my routine.

Notino - pregnancy self-care

Yes, my hair is growing a lot faster! But it had also developed a rebellious attitude.

I tried many shampoos and none did the trick. So it comes to no surprise how happy I was to find out Notino not only carries Klorane products, but also the Chamomile range. Fun fact: this is the shampoo I used when I was a child! My hair used to be very tangly and even though the shampoo says it is supposed to be used to make hair appear lighter and make highlights or blonde/light brown hair appear brighter, the truth is that it is the best shampoo to tame unruly hair!

It is easy on the scalp, very mild and your hair literally feels like a child’s when you step out of the shower – at least mine does! So obviously as soon as I saw it, I knew I had to order it! At 8€ I definitely wouldn’t consider it cheap, but it also is not as expensive as other brands, besides Klorane is a super good brand which also tries to use the best ingredients and protect the environment.

Another thing I have noticed with my hair is how dry it got. Like, desert dry! I could drown my tips in olive oil everyday and it would still be dry. So I knew I finally had to invest in a decent hair oil. My best friend gifted me a shampoo from the Oil Miracle range for my brithday and it truly has been making the difference, so I decided to try the hair oil from the same range – the BC Bonacure Oil Miracle Argan Oil. And I must say, I have not regretted it since! I use it after the shower when my hair is damp, but not completely dry yet. It does look somewhat oily right after I use it, but when I wake up in the morning my locks are looking nourished and I really can see the difference since I started using it! And you really don’t need more than a pea size amount per use, so the 8,90€ really makes the product affordable.

Last, but not least, I decided to take the plunge and order the Wet brush. It’s the number one hair brush in the USA to use in wet hair and I had read so many reviews, I knew I needed it. Besides, I once had a hairdresser use it on me and it was the best thing ever – my hair was detangled in no time with zero pain! That’s something that never happens, since my hair is so fine, it always gets knotted in the shower. The brush I chose costs 8€, which is less than a lot of brushes you can find in the drugstore that are not as good.

Adding these items to my hair-care routine really have made the difference to the way my hair feels and looks! And I think it’s funny how you sometimes have to get back to the basics and use what you used as a child to make things better again. I am keen to see if my hair stays like this when I give birth or if it goes back to the way it was.

Do you have any tricks to make your hair look and feel better – regardless if you’re pregnant or now? Let me know!
