Rosie Cooks: Bean tuna salad!

One of the things that I really miss from Portugal are a special kind of beans that they just don’t sell in Austria…at least nowhere I’ve ever seen.. I remember calling my Dad 5 years ago the first time I lived here, asking him how you say the name in German and no one knew what it was…
In Portugal you get them in every grocery store, usually canned, and extremely cheap. And you can use them to make cold salads in the summer.

So, when I complained to my Mum about missing them, she immediately went to the supermarket like a woman in a mission, and sent me a package. Now, she sent me the ones you still need to cook, but regardless, I was super happy about it! (I cannot tell that woman that I miss anything without getting it in the mail the following week!!! Gotta love Mums!). Of course I decided to make one of my favorite dishes with it: Tuna salad!
You can basically use whatever you want in this salad, the base of it are the beans, then I just used what I had home, which happened to be tomatoes, cucumber and olives. I added a hard boiled egg on top of it and, of course, the tuna! Topped with some balsamic dressing it tasted like heaven in my mouth!
I was really happy about it! It was so so yummy and fresh and healthy and delicious!

We call them 'Schwarzaugenbohnen'. You can get them dry at most turkish supermarkets 🙂
