Those of you who’ve been following me for a while know I love tea. Naturally, when I found out there is a traditional Chinese tea store called Madame Wu Teesalon in Linz, where you can go and drink tea, I immediately told Markus I wanted to go there. So we did, on a Sunday a few weeks before Christmas.
Please excuse the photographs, they were taken with my phone and the area was somewhat dark.
The Madame Wu Teesalon is in Linz’s Altstadt, the oldest part of town. I love the area! You actually have to go down a few stairs and the salon is in a very old building. It has a very “tea-like” atmosphere.
We both chose teas and the thing I found interesting about Madame Wu Teesalon is that they give you a small sand-clock to count the time and you know how much time you need to wait for it to be finished – every tea has a different time, some 2 minutes, up to 10 minutes. The staff is very nice, we didn’t have a reservation – big mistake! – but the lady was very nice and asked us to wait for 15 minutes, which we did. Our table was ready after the time she said it would be.
You receive the tea, the small sand-clock and a sweet cookie. I also ordered the scones, which are not pictured. The scones weren’t bad, but they weren’t the best I’ve ever had.
If you do like tea, I can only recommend the Madame Wu Teesalon! You can choose from a variety of teas and the staff will gladly help you out. The hard part will be to choose just one! The Salon is also a tea store, where you can get the teas to make them at home and also traditional Chinese tea dishes! You can also check some photographs on the website, which I share below, along15 with the address.
