A dreaded word for many people out there. I’m one of them! For longer than I can actually remember, the word “diet” has made me cringe. Not anymore.
I don’t believe that dieting has to be restricting. I think you can have a healthy and balanced diet, without restricting yourself from what you like/want. Unless, of course, all you ever want to eat is fast food and sweets, then a healthy diet would be restricting…I guess..
Anyways, I’ve realized I’m not the youngest anymore. That doesn’t mean that I’m old (by any means!), but it is common knowledge that your metabolism slows down in your twenties. And I’m 25 now and have realized that to be true. Even though I know that I have some health problems that make me not be able to lose weight, I’ve decided not to let it get to me and make me unmotivated or bring me down.
I’ve decided to start having a healthier diet, with all things I like, but that will in no way look like the picture below.
Instead, I’m aiming for something looking more like the picture below, full of good things!!!
I recently saw a documentary about diabetics who changed their diets and started eating raw-vegan and actually cured their diabetes! Some of them didn’t even need to take insulin anymore!!! Even though I’m not a diabetic, I do have insulin resistance and want to stop taking meds for it. Meaning, I’m going to start aiming more for a low glycemic index diet.
That does not mean I’ll restrict myself! If I wish to eat some fries, I’ll have some. But not more than once a week. Same with unhealthy sweets or snacks. I don’t want to never eat some of the things I like (and I really like fries!!!), but I also don’t want to go down the unhealthy fast food addicting route.
How is your diet? I might post some examples of food I eat in a week, I know those are pretty popular! What do you guys think? What is your favorite food?
Have a great week!
