Cravings: Michael Kors bags

[:en]

I’ve shared quite a few times before how I changed my shopping habits. I used to buy things every month, what damage could a simple t-shirt do, right? Well, eventually I ended up with a ton of things I either did not wear or that didn’t last very long. As I shared with you in this post, I love the Le Pliage bag from Longchamp and actually got one as a gift for myself as a graduation present three years ago. I used it to no end, for trips, to the beach, and on a daily basis. And needless to say…after three years, it’s ruined. Not completely ruined, but the waterproof neoprene lining is peeling and the corners are..well…they’ve been replaced by small holes.

Last year I started making smarter purchases and have noticed giving up those extra Euros actually make the difference. After getting my UGG boots, which totally are the most expensive piece in my closet, I started seeing the value of good quality things that, naturally, cost accordingly. So, I have finally decided to save up for a new bag. And guys, let me tell you, it’s definitely the most expensive bag I have ever bought. But it’s also darn worth it, I’ve seen it myself.

Who hasn’t heard of Michael Kors? He’s a fashion known name already, known for his bags, his shoes or his watches. It’s not often that I see a designer that is so well known in so many different areas. And, for a designer, the bags aren’t really expensive (compared to others, like Louis Vuitton, that has the same quality).

Michael Kors bags are not only pretty, they’re also extremely good quality. They have a ton of different leather types, however, I want to get one in a saffiano leather. That’s the same leather that the Louis Vuitton bags are made of and is basically bulletproof. Which is good for a clumsy person like me. It’s hard and very resistant and also waterproof. I am positive a bag of this material, if well taken care of, will last years and years and I might end up giving it to my daughter if I ever have one.

Now comes the hard part….which one to choose?!?MIchael Kors Jet Set Travel

Luckily, my friend and colleague Maria has a couple of Michael Kors bags. It’s her favorite designer and that basically gave me the opportunity to see the bags first hand. I have narrowed my choice down to the Jet Set model, but I also like the one with the pocket in front (first bag on the left). I haven’t taken the time to go to a store and see these next to each other, but I am planning on it.

Color-wise I know I want to get something neutral that will go with everything. As much as I want to have a red bag, I wouldn’t really wear it out as much as a black or brown one. I have a very nice brown soft leather bag that my parents gave me last year when I was in Portugal and I love it and wear it a lot. So I think I might not go for a brown one because of that and because the other one also has a pocket on the front. I also love the classic MK print, both in brown and in the lighter version. I wouldn’t get the lighter version, simply because I wouldn’t use it during the winter months, whereas I would use the brown printed one during the Summertime as well. I am planning on going to a store and seeing them all in person so I can see if I make a decision.

Do you own a Michael Kors bag? Are you happy with it? Please let me know, all opinions are welcome, as well as all comments!
