This past weekend was full of adventures and I must say, I’m still a bit “flashed” from all of it. The ABCstar Conference took place in Linz and brought a wave of Bloggers to the city. If you want to know what I thought of the conference and what happened there, keep reading!
ABCstar 2017 – Austrian Blogger Conference
It started on Firday at 10 am with networking and snacks. In other words, we bloggers arrived and had the chance to talk a while and eat/drink something before the whole thing started. Regarding drinks: the only “fail” was the coffee. Or, better said, the fact that there was only one (ONE!!) coffee machine – a tiny espresso machine, where you can only make one (or two) coffees at a time. Additionally, the lad who was making the coffee didn’t even know how to foam up milk. Nevertheless, he was very nice and never lost his smile – no matter how long the line was!
The keynotes started at 11:45. The first one was held by Ali Mahlodji von Watchado, who was amazing!! In the end of it I was SO motivated, I don’t even have words to express myself. I really identified with some parts of his life as well and had the feeling “someone understands me”.
Unfortunately I must say except for Ali’s talk, only one other talk really spoke to me, the one from the two lovely ladies from Comepass! They have a blogger agency and want to chance the current blogger scene – quality should be more important than the amount of followers or how many contacts a blogger has. I think it’s amazing, blogger should be authentic and be rewarded for it. And the two ladies were extremely sweet and nice as well!
Come 6pm, the talks were over and it was time for the different Instawalks. All of them seemed great, but I went with the one at Feschmarkt and didn’t regret it for a second!
After the Instawalk, a bus drove us to the location where we would have our party: the restaurant/bar Stadtliebe. A part of the place was reserved for us and we had our get together on the first evening – I wouldn’t really call it a party. It wasn’t my first time there and I knew how full it would be. We used the time to speak to each other and get to know new people, or get to know better people we already knew. It was a very nice evening, but I didn’t stay long, because I wanted to be fit on Saturday.
Saturday was Speed Dating day! Every blogger had 5 “dates” with various companies. Each date was around 10 minutes, which doesn’t seem long. That’s exactly why we had to use every second wisely. I was worth it, at least for me, I got to meet very nice people from some very interesting companies and I hope we can work together in the future.
The workshops took place in the afternoon. I chose the one with Bettina Stomper-Rosam first. She’s a lawyer that share with us some of the important things of Internet Law. I found the workshop itself pretty interesting, Bettina was very nice and has a good sense of humor – a plus in my book!
Secondly I had the workshop with Katharina Moser, a former tax consultant turned artist who gave us some input on how to deal with taxes. I think I learned the most with this workshop, of all three.
Last, but not least, I had the workshop with Wello, an advertising agency. Even though I did find the talk pretty entertaining, it wasn’t really informative. I had the feeling it was more of an advertising gag or self-promotion than anything else.
At at 6:30 pm the whole thing ended, way too quick. I spent two amazing days with extremely nice people, learning a lot of new things. I had the chance to see old colleagues, got to spend time with my good friend Bobby (from Curvect!) and got to meet new people. Additionally I learned a lot and my motivation is on high drive!
This was the ABCstar 2017! Have you ever visited a blogger conference?
